The Newest Arrival...

And here it is - my new baby.
The newest addition to my 'on-the-verge-of-exploding' wardrobe. I know. The solution is to 'minimize' rather than add in more superfluous but totally ab-fab pieces...but...but...

It can always accommodate another bag. End of story.

Bags hold a special place in my usually small consumer-whorish heart.
I am a proud member of multiple groups which proudly scream 'My bag is worth more than your life'
Because most of the time it is. Well, at least definitely in the case of my ex. Awkward? Okay. Yeah.

Ah, and a Chloe tote makes for the perfect travel-adventure companion in the tropics.
Buttery soft goat-skin leather. That trademark gold hardware we all know and love (who doesn't love a bit of hardware...and not of the nuts-and-bolts sort). Big enough to carry all the essentials of life. And a bit more. Multiple pockets to subtly hide the sins of the past week. And a big strap for that 'I'm trying to desperately emulate Alexa Chung's preppy androgynous schoolboy aesthetic' (It's the satchel factor). So really that makes it more like two bags for the price of one. At least that's how it totally won me over. Swoon.

Elegant. Tasteful. Simple. Pragmatic. And might I say, rather huggable.

And who said you needed actual human arm candy?

Billy is totally my lover!

Michael Jackson may not have wanted Billie Jean as his lover...
But then again Billie Jean was probably not a completely lustworthy bag.

The Billy bag is one of Jerome Dreyfuss' classics

For those of you who don't know Jerome Dreyfuss...shame and many fashionistic stones on you...Quick summary: He's a bit of an under the radar legend. French naturally. Married to Isabel Marant...naturally. And he makes sublime bags all named after boys. Obviously he read my mind for the need for a constant arm companion...only in the softest cushiest leather ever...and with mini-flashlights in the pockets so that...you can actually find all the crap you've thrown into your bag and lost...I found a long-lost lipgloss the other day...but that's a story for another time.

Evidently - only stratospherically cool people walk around with Jerome Dreyfuss bags nonchalantly hanging off their arms. Mainly because most people don't actually know them when they see them...

R: 'Oh my god...is that a Jerome Dreyfuss bag?'

J: 'Uhh...yes...'

R: 'Can I cuddle it?'

J: 'I guess...if I can steal your soon-to-be-owned Boyy bag...'

And here it is...one of my most lusted over squeezes...

Michael would totally be singing a different tune...

Manbag? No...I'd just get a Boyy bag instead

Many moons ago, I decided to call my now recently ex-boyfriend Manbag. While he was none too happy with the nickname (something about being rather emasculating and all...it was admittedly rather fun seeing the faces of boys shrivel in disgust at being labelled a 'manbag'), I thought it was rather fitting. They add that little bit extra to your outfit (assuming they're good looking), carry all the stuff you don't want to be seen lugging around (how very un-glam...nobody needed to see my Accounting textbook) and make for pretty nice companions (most of the time)

Having said that, following our recent break-up, Manbag has now been demoted to last season's Mansack. Never to be repeated. There is, however, something rather inspired about giving boys' names to bags. I do worship you Jerome Dreyfuss. The concept works especially well in the case of these Boyy bags that I am totally lusting over after spying them out during one of my illicit Internet breaks during work (Spreadsheets? Uh...totally yeah...was doing that...).

I for one am totally crushing on the Slash and Clyde with their worn-in, perfect vintage-y looking leather and the HARDWARE (oh god...don't get me started on hardware)...it's a feeling that's only comparable with that totally one-sided love affair with that track runner in 8th grade. Not that anyone needs to know about that.

But looking at these babies, I'm just dying to score a date. They would be the perfect companions with everything. Insouciant, charming, practical, just a little bit rock & roll and cheeky...the perfect boy really.

The perfect Valentine.

Lots of love
